Pervasive Computing is a concept which aims at the data processing
and communication in everyday life. Sensor networks are used to
collect information about the physical world. The information is
useful for pervasive devices to adapt their behaviours.
Since the devices in these two areas have different interaction
models, data from sensor networks can not be accessed by devices in
Pervasive Computing environments. Our solution is to build up a node
which can communicate with devices from both environments. This
solution involves a complete system design including hardware
integration and software adaptation. Two hardware devices are
combined as the hardware platform of the node. One device supports
Pervasive Computing applications. The other one is used in sensor
networks. A middleware for Pervasive Computing, BASE, is extended
with the capability of running in wireless sensor networks.
Different interaction models are integrated in BASE.
The node built in this diploma thesis realizes data exchange among
devices which have different interaction capabilities and acts as a
bridge between Pervasive Computing environments and sensor networks.
